Os editores da revista Nature estão entrando na onda do acesso livre. Calma! Ainda não é desta vez que a Nature estará acessível de forma gratuita a todos. Eles estão lançando uma nova revista chamada Scientific Reports. Bom... para possibilitar seu acesso livre eles estão cobrando uma pequena fortuna aos autores, mas é uma excelente notícia para os leitores interessados em ciências naturais.

O primeiro volume estará disponível em junho. No momento a revista está aceitando a submissão de artigos para publicação. O nível de impacto da revista só sairá em 2013, mas pelo status dos editores em seu campo de atuação, podemos esperar que ela vai ficar bem na fita.

"Scientific Reports is an online, open access, primary research publication covering all areas of the natural sciences — biology, chemistry, physics and earth sciences.

Hosted on nature.com — the home of over 90 journals published by Nature Publishing Group and the destination for millions of scientists globally every month — Scientific Reports will be open to all, publishing technically sound, original research papers of interest to specialists within their field.

Scientific Reports is committed to providing an efficient service for both authors and readers. With the support of an external Editorial Board and a streamlined peer-review system, all papers will be rapidly and fairly peer reviewed to ensure they are technically sound. An internal publishing team will work with the board, and accepted authors, to ensure manuscripts are processed for publication as quickly as possible.

Rapid dissemination of accepted papers to the widest possible audience will be achieved through a programme of continuous online publication. Scientific Reports will leverage the tools, technology and experience of Nature Publishing Group to ensure that published manuscripts are enhanced by innovative web technologies. In addition, all papers will be archived in PubMed Central.
