Vaga para professor de Horticultura na American University of Beirut

"The Department of Agricultural Sciences at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full-time faculty position in Horticulture at the level of Assistant Professor. The starting date of the appointment is September 15, 2010. Positions are normally at the Assistant Professor level but appointments at higher ranks may be considered depending on qualifications. Appointments are for an initial period of four years.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Horticulture with demonstrable expertise in sustainable horticulture systems and practices in the production of fruit and/or vegetable crops and a record of successful teaching and research. Practical experience with organic horticultural farming is required.
Responsibilities:

Teaching and conducting research in production of horticultural crops grown in both subtropical and temperate climatic regions. The incumbent will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to improve horticultural production practices in Lebanon and to train both undergraduate and graduate horticultural students for MSc. degrees.
Participating in management planning of facilities including both greenhouses and laboratories on the subtropical coastal plain in Beirut and the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a 100 ha farm located in the temperate Bekaa valley eighty kilometers from Beirut.
